The hardship of being human stems from fear of loss. Loss of love, life, hope... Stepping back to take a break and calmly observe this feeling is the best rescue plan. Psychological pain can be physically crippling and vice versa. Through talking and being listened to - an approach that defines psychoanalysis, we can transit through trauma, loss and fear and come out in one piece.Life is a process as is art. It is not a means with an end, it’s a sum of unfolding chapters where materials of the human body shed matter that hold all of the information of our being. Through hair a story is told of our dna, our journey. Hair cut offs are vast and whilst in the past a lock of hair marked a treasured and intimate memoir in a locket or a love letter, today it goes in the bin, alongside disposed off foliage and refuse. Over the past year I have revisited the custom of collecting my loved ones hair alongside collecting roots and carcasses of disregarded ‘once loved’ garden plants.Through this cyanotype series I embrace the romantic blueprint record - made by the sun. A record of the locks of hair alongside the plant roots, simultaneously celebrating my love for human and nature. Both in a state of transience, recorded together on their journey of recycled matter that is the make up of the universe....
